In fact, the count was somewhere around hundred last we checked! Well, we polled our salespeople about the most popular mattress and furniture brands shoppers came in looking for in 2022.
It’s official. The results are in! Read on to learn about 15 manufacturers (presented in alphabetical order) that our in-house furniture experts are calling their most popular brands of 2022!
1) Ashley Furniture (Including Benchcraft, Millennium by Ashley, Outdoor by Ashley, Sierra Sleep by Ashley, & Signature Design by Ashley)
First of all, it’s not surprising to see Ashley Furniture on a list of the most popular furniture brands. In fact, parent company Ashley Furniture Industries, is technically the world’s largest manufacturer of furniture. As you can imagine, we get a ton of shoppers coming in looking for Ashley. So many that we’ve previously written an article to answer shoppers asking us if we carry Ashley Furniture. (Pssst – we do!)
Ashley Furniture is a massive producer of entry-level to mid-tier quality furniture for the entire home. As such, it is a good fit for shoppers on a budget, those just getting started on their first home, or those looking for affordable pieces for kids’ rooms or guest bedrooms. However, did you know that Ashley now has a more upscale brand called Millennium by Ashley? How about their affordable, no-frills mattress lineup Sierra Sleep by Ashley? 2) aspenhome
When it comes to casegoods – i.e. furniture like tables, chests, desks or dressers built from wood or other solid materials – aspenhome is hands-down one of the most popular brands in our store. Starting out as a family-owned operation making TV consoles, media chests and entertainment centers back in the early 1980s, aspenhome has since grown their catalog to include bedroom sets, dining sets, home office collections, and occasional tables for your living space. However, despite all these changes they are still family-owned and operated to this day.
Their catalog includes styles spanning from rustic, to farmhouse, to sleek contemporary. Most significantly, shoppers are drawn to aspenhome’s thoughtful designs and practical features. These premium features include built-in power outlets, hidden compartments, lift-tops, locking drawers, ball-bearing drawer glides, dovetail joints and more!
3) Craftmaster Furniture
Hailing from the Appalachian foothills of North Carolina, the craftsmen and women at Craftmaster Furniture see furniture manufacturing as a part of their local traditions and heritage. It’s in their blood. Craftmaster has been in the upholstered furniture game for a long time – since 1972 to be exact. However, they must be something right, because Paula Deen herself chose Craftmaster to be the exclusive upholstery manufacturer for her popular Paula Deen Home Collection.
While we have many Craftmaster accent chairs, loveseats, sectionals and sofas in our showroom, custom order upholstered seating is really where Craftmaster Furniture shines. As such, it’s no surprise that they have one of the largest selections of upholstery fabrics, performance fabrics, and premium leathers in our Design Center. From the arms and seat-backs, to the seams/welts, to the leg styles and wood finish, they are all customizable.
4) England Furniture
Despite their name, England is another well-established, American-made, upholstery manufacturer with strong historical roots in the Appalachian furniture industry. Founded and based in East Tennessee, England Furniture specializes in crafting quality sofas, recliners, loveseats, sectionals and accent chairs. England has been an independent division of La-Z-Boy since 1995.
England Furniture has an established reputation for solid build quality, affordability, and their extensive custom order program. Not only do they have a ton of custom options available, they also have one of the shortest custom order build cycles in the industry. Plus, with their factory just next-door in Tennessee, our customers are able to take full advantage of England’s efficient manufacturing.
5) Flexsteel
Flexsteel is a manufacturer of quality upholstered seating with a company history going back well over a century. Founded in the 1890s, Flexsteel pioneered a brand-new kind of seat spring for sofas, couches and chairs. This new design was inspired by the flat, sturdy, high-tensile steel springs found in Swiss watches and clock towers. To this day, it’s a unique, exclusive feature you can only find in a Flexsteel – their patented Blue Steel Spring!

Of the brands on this list, HomeStretch is the only exclusive manufacturer of upholstered reclining furniture. HomeStretch designs and crafts their reclining seating just a couple states over in Mississippi. Whether you’re looking for a recliner, a lift chair, a reclining sofa, or reclining loveseat, HomeStretch has something for you.
Ultimately, HomeStretch’s goal is to offer their customers American-made, functional, comfortable, quality reclining seating at a competitive price. 7) Hooker Furniture (Including Bradington-Young & Sam Moore)
Hooker Furniture is an extremely popular premium furniture brand, and one that many furniture shoppers come in asking us about. However, Hooker’s subsidiaries, Bradington-Young and Sam Moore are almost equally popular with our shoppers. Between these three brands, they craft stylish furniture for every room in the home and collectively have over 200 years of furniture manufacturing experience!
Hooker is a whole home furniture manufacturer and importer best known for their high-end wooden casegoods for bedrooms, dining rooms, and home office. However, they do have a line of leather recliners as well. Meanwhile, both Bradington-Young and Sam Moore specialize in upscale upholstered seating – Sam Moore with fabric upholstery, and Bradington-Young with premium leathers.
8) International Furniture Direct (IFD)
International Furniture Direct, or IFD, is one of our most popular manufacturers of casegoods. Their catalog includes dining tables and chairs, bars and barstools, chests and dressers, TV stands, console tables, coffee tables, desks and more. At the crossroads of high quality and affordability, IFD prides themselves on making handcrafted wood furniture accessible to everyone.
IFD offers furniture shoppers eclectic, fun, solid wood pieces for their bedrooms, dining rooms, home office, kitchens and living spaces. Each piece is reminiscent of rustic woodworking, a vintage farmhouse or villa, a reclaimed industrial space, or some combination of the three. Unlike its sister brand, Kincaid offers a broader catalog that also includes solid wood casegoods like bedroom furniture and occasional tables alongside its stationary upholstered living room furniture.
Kincaid Furniture is a higher-end brand that prides themselves on doing things the old-fashioned way. Each piece is benchmade by hand, and includes premium features that range from solid wood construction, to English dovetail joints, to hand-rubbed finishes, to 8-way hand-tied suspension systems. It’s Kincaid’s mission to make things the way they used to be – maybe even a little better.
10) Liberty Furniture
Liberty Furniture Industries is another extremely popular brand that a ton of our customers gravitate towards. They offer furniture shoppers a wide variety of décor styles ranging from antique cottage, to modern farmhouse, to urban industrial. In particular, Liberty specializes in competitively-priced dining room sets, bedroom sets, home office furniture, coffee tables, end tables and more!
Liberty may not be as old or established as some the others on this list – and that’s okay. What they lack in longevity, they more than make up for in character. Since 1992, Liberty Furniture has built their company upon the core principles of integrity, hard work, and customer service. As a bonus for those shoppers here in Georgia, Liberty Furniture is based here in Atlanta. So, by buying local you’re putting that money right back into the local economy!
11) Sealy
Sealy is another brand that needs practically no introduction. With a company history of well over 100 years of mattress manufacturing, Sealy Mattress is easily one of the most popular mattress brands with consumers. There are hardly any other mattress brands on the market with the established history and reputation that Sealy has earned over multiple generations.
Whether you are a stomach-sleeper, back-sleeper, side-sleeper or a combination of the three, Sealy has a mattress that will work with your body, sleep preferences, and budget. 12) Stearns & Foster
Although not quite as well-known as Sealy, Stearns & Foster has been making mattresses for longer than any other company in the industry. In fact, S&F has been in continuous operation since 1846!
Originally known for their luxurious innerspring pillow top mattresses, Stearns & Foster has continued to innovate. S&F loads up each mattress with features like individually pocketed coils, ventilated coils with external cooling air vents, moisture-wicking Tencel mattress covers, plush top foams, and more. Most recently, S&F has expanded into the hybrid mattress category to amazing results with their high-end Lux Estate Hybrid collection.
Over the years, Stearns & Foster has truly become one of America’s premier, luxury mattress brands. As proof of this claim, every single S&F mattress is handcrafted by a certified master craftsman and carries their signature! 13) Tempur-Pedic
Almost everyone has heard of Tempur-Pedic, so it’s unsurprising that these mattresses are extremely popular with our customers. After all, they are the original foam mattress that kicked off the departure from strict innerspring mattress designs. In a market with more and more competitors in the form of direct-to-consumer mattress-in-a-box companies, Tempur-Pedic is still the most popular, best-known premium mattress brand out there.
However, instead of sitting complacently, Tempur-Pedic continues to innovate to this day. Along with their tried-and-true TEMPUR material offerings, they now make several hybrid mattresses, along with some of the coolest (literally!) mattresses on the market with their PRObreeze and LUXEbreeze mattresses.
14) Vaughan-Bassett (Including LMCo. Home Collection and Artisan & Post)
For over a century, Vaughan-Bassett has been building well-crafted solid wood and wood veneer bedroom furniture. With factories in Virginia and across the Southeast, they proudly build their furniture in America from locally-sourced pine, oak, maple, cherry, ash, poplar, birch, and beech wood. They’ve also made a commitment to plant a tree to replace every one they use.
Vaughan-Bassett currently has three different brands. Vaughan-Bassett crafts their branded furniture with high quality, wood veneers on wood solids, while they build their Artisan & Post brand with various solid woods. Are you familiar with HGTV’s hit show, Home Town? If so, you may know Erin and Ben Napier and their store, Laurel Mercantile. Unable to meet the crazy demand for Ben’s custom furniture, they partnered with the folks at Vaughan-Bassett to introduce their 3rd and final collection – the LMCo. Home Collection.
Between Vaughan-Bassett’s own lineup, their solid wood Artisan & Post brand, and the furniture they produce for the LMCo. Home Collection, Vaughan-Bassett has built a reputation for excellently-crafted, heirloom-quality bedroom sets. 15) West Coast Collection
