The Sealy Posturepedic Story | “Targeted Support, Where You Need It Most”
If you were to ask random folks on the street to start naming mattress brands, which ones would you expect to hear? With almost 150 years of crafting mattresses, and 75 years since the launch of their storied Posturepedic brand, Sealy would absolutely be on the short list. As such, Sealy likely needs very little introduction for most consumers. However, it is important to note that very few mattress makers have the established brand trust and earned reputation of the Sealy and Posturepedic brands.
Speaking of Posturepedic, this brand name was originally unveiled in 1950 for a line of mattresses Sealy developed in partnership with two leading orthopedic surgeons. The goal? To craft a better mattress, one that promoted better postural alignment thereby eliminating those pesky, morning back aches. Sealy Posturepedic Mattresses | The Spivey Mattress
The Spivey Mattress is Sealy’s entry level Posturepedic mattress, but that doesn’t make it plain or basic. Rather, the Spivey Mattress has the most important job of all – it sets the solid foundation that the rest of Sealy’s 2025 mattress line builds upon. Let’s talk about these foundational features as they are included in the Spivey Mattress and every other mattress to come on today’s mattress lineup review.
At the core of every Sealy Posturepedic mattress is the PrecisionFit coil. This specialized coil is a patented, progressive dual-stage design, which provides sleepers light, conforming support at first, followed by stronger, deep-down pressure-relieving support as needed. For the Spivey Mattress, these coils are located in the middle third of the mattress, giving an extra boost of support for the torso, shoulders, back and hips. Additionally, the Spivey and every mattress to follow includes Sealy’s moisture-wicking MoistureProtect and anti-microbial Surface-Guard Technology woven right into the mattress cover.

The first step-up is from Sealy Posturepedic to Sealy Posturepedic Plus and its upgraded Nottely Mattress. While similar to the Spivey Mattress in many ways, the Nottely Mattress includes a couple key additions on top of the base features it shares with the Spivey.
Starting with Posturepedic Plus and the Nottely Mattress, Sealy adds in their DuraFlex Coil Edge system. This arrangement of special coils around the perimeter of the mattress serves several purposes. First, it provides much better edge support, meaning that you’ll never have to worry about that caving-in sensation if you’re someone who tends to sleep close to the edge of the mattress or likes to sit on the edge of the bed to get dressed. It also adds to the mattresses overall durability, and makes the Nottely Mattress fully compatible with adjustable bases.

Still wanting something even more advanced with even more support? We present Sealy Posturepedic Pro and the Allatoona Mattress. The jump from Posturepedic Plus to Posturepedic Pro represents the single most significant step up in Sealy’s new lineup. How so? Let’s look at the Allatoona Mattress and its upgraded features.
Instead of the mix of standard encased coils and PrecisionFit coils you see in Posturepedic and Posturepedic Plus, the Posturepedic Pro level of mattresses incorporates PrecisionFit coils into the entire length and width of the mattress, from head-to-toe. However, in keeping with Sealy’s promise to deliver targeted support where it is needed most, the Allatoona Mattress also includes Sealy’s proprietary Max Support Technology. These smaller individually-wrapped coils are strategically nestled between PrecisionFit coils in the center third of the mattress, providing maximum targeted support for the sleeper’s shoulders, back, hips and torso. Finally, while the Allatoona Mattress still has MoistureProtect and Surface-Guard Technology woven into the cover, it also includes a Cool-to-the-Touch fabric that includes cooling fibers.

Sealy Posturepedic Elite Mattresses | The Albany II Mattress, Brenham II Mattress & High Point II Mattress
The Posturepedic Elite Collection contains the most advanced mattresses in the Sealy catalog, perhaps the most supportive and comfy Sealy has ever made! Posturepedic Elite is divided into three different mattresses – the Albany II Mattress, the Brenham II Mattress and the High Point II Mattress. The Albany II and High Point II are only available with hybrid construction, meanwhile the Brenham II is available in six different innerspring and hybrid configurations.
Each of these three mattresses share the design features of the Posturepedic Pro mattresses above with a couple notable improvements. Up to this point, only the hybrid mattress models in the Posturepedic, Posturepedic Plus and Posturepedic Pro lines have included the ComfortSense Gel Memory Foam layer. But with Posturepedic Elite, every single mattress – whether hybrid or innerspring – includes a substantial layer of pressure-relieving, body-conforming comfort.
The other big step up here worth noting is the addition of SealyChill Technology. If you’re a naturally hot sleeper, a Posturepedic Elite Mattress is absolutely worth your consideration. The Albany II and Brenham II both feature SealyChill Technology, which is a significant improvement over the Cool-to-touch-Cover found in the Posturepedic Pro. For Sealy’s best cooling however, be sure to check out the High Point II Mattress with its Advanced SealyChill Technology, which feels a whopping 40% cooler than a standard Posturepedic or Posturepedic Plus mattress.
