All About MAVIN

MAVIN Furniture's origins trace back to 1975 in Ohio's Amish country, where Levi Coblentz and his son, Robert, began a modest two-man logging operation known as Winesburg Hardwood. Initially focused on harvesting and selling quality timber to local sawmills, Levi and Robert gradually expanded their operations to include a sawmill of their own in 1977. By the following year, they ventured into producing shipping pallets and crates under the name Winesburg Pallet. And by the mid-1990s their small business saw further growth with the introduction of machinery to enhance production efficiency.

The early 2000s marked a significant diversification as the company entered the furniture industry under the name Palettes by Winesburg. They began by crafting chairs for hospitality venues and, over time, expanded into residential furniture, offering a comprehensive range of dining, bedroom, and home office pieces. In 2022, reflecting their evolution and commitment to excellence, the company rebranded their company and its various divisions – now known as MAVIN Furniture, MAVIN Timber, and MAVIN Pallet – under the MAVIN brand name. These divisions are united in their mission to make the highest quality products while using their natural resources wisely and efficiently in order to leave the earth a better place for future generations.

Now led by the Coblentz brothers, Levi’s five grandsons, MAVIN Furniture stands as a testament to the Coblentz family's enduring legacy, offering finely crafted, heirloom quality furniture that embodies the traditions and values of its founders while blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design.

MAVIN Furniture | FAQ & Answer

We’ve explored both our showrooms and the web to uncover the most common questions furniture shoppers have about MAVIN Furniture. Below, we’ve provided answers to help you determine whether a MAVIN dining set, bedroom collection, or custom-crafted piece is the perfect fit for your home.

“What kinds of furniture does MAVIN Furniture produce?”

The MAVIN catalog includes hand-crafted, Amish-built, solid wood products in the dining furniture, bedroom furniture, home office furniture, and occasional furniture categories. Here at Woodstock Furniture & Mattress Outlet, our in-stock MAVIN Furniture options currently consist of dining collections and bedroom collections, but other pieces from their catalog are available for custom order.

Speaking of custom order, this is one of the things that makes MAVIN Furniture so unique. All you have to do is find a piece you like for your home, choose from 9 different wood varieties, nearly 40 stains, paints and glazes, 60+ knob and handle hardware options, and for collections with any kind of upholstery, you have 40+ fabrics and leathers too. Additionally, you can request two-tone looks with different color table or dresser tops, weathered paint-rub finishes with varying levels of distressing, and burnishing, where MAVIN’s craftspeople will shade the edges of your furniture darker for a unique look.

As for what style furniture you can expect, MAVIN’s offerings are delightfully modern and diverse, ranging from traditional, to transitional, to contemporary. Although most consumers rightfully associate the “Amish furniture” label with exceptional craftsmanship and heirloom quality, many also associate it with aging or old-fashioned styles. MAVIN Furniture offers furniture shoppers the best of both worlds – time-honored, tried-and-true construction methods combined with desirable, fashion-forward design.

“Where is MAVIN Furniture made?”

In a market where most casegoods in the United States are imported or at least assembled from imported components, MAVIN furniture is proudly 100% Made in America at their facility in Dundee, Ohio. Everything from the lumber it’s made from to the finished product itself is an American product.

MAVIN is fully vertically integrated, which means they control every level of production from beginning to end. Owing to their multi-generational expertise as lumber specialists, MAVIN hand-selects, harvests, mills, and processes in-house the local cherry, oak, maple, elm and walnut trees they will transform into your new furniture. This gives the MAVIN family full control over their manufacturing process, from seedling to final product.

“Is MAVIN Furniture good quality?”

As we’ve mentioned above, MAVIN Furniture is Amish-made, hand-crafted here in America, and their supply chains are fully integrated. That means that the folks at MAVIN have their hands on every single step of the manufacturing process, all the way down to hand-picking which trees are best to harvest. Combine that with their all-wood construction, traditional joinery methods, and legendary Amish fine finishing and varnish, and you’ve got a durable product of excellent quality.

“Is MAVIN Furniture a good fit for me?”

As you progress on your shopping journey, there are several reasons why MAVIN might be a great fit for you. And a few why it may not be – and that’s okay!

If you’re looking for durability, longevity, and hand-crafted solid wood construction in your new bedroom, dining or home office furniture, a beautiful set from MAVIN may be absolutely perfect for you. The same goes for if you have a knack for design and crave a high level of customization for your interiors. Or if you love the idea of supporting American jobs at a small family business in the Midwest. If any of these are true, MAVIN certainly has a bedroom or dining set in a style that you’ll love.

However, here are a few caveats. If you’re not wild about the natural look of wood grain, MAVIN’s style of all wood furniture may not be your stylistic cup of tea. Similarly, if you’re looking for lightweight furniture that is super easy to move, the heft of solid oak, elm, maple, cherry or walnut furniture from MAVIN may be overwhelming. Lastly, it’s important to note that any furniture of MAVIN Furniture’s level of quality will not be the cheapest option in our showroom, so if you’re looking for something entry-level, other manufacturers may be a better fit for you.
