Take time to smell the flowers.

Get in the mood for summer and visit the Atlanta Botanical Garden before the annual Orchid Daze exhibition closes on April 9. You’ll feel instantly transported to the tropics when you step inside the warmth of the largest orchid center in the United States. This special exhibition features thousands of gorgeous orchids. While you’re there, take advantage of classes and programming for children and adults.

Journey to Goblin City at the Center for Puppetry Arts.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: Journey to Goblin City at The Center for Puppetry Arts, you still have time, and spring break is the perfect opportunity to visit. This special exhibit is included with museum admission.

Hint: head to your public library and take advantage of the Georgia Public Libraries’ Passport to Puppetry program. You can get up to 4 museum admissions for free, plus other special discounts on workshops and puppetry performances.

Now in its 81st year, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival is a family-friendly tradition not to be missed. Artists from around the country flock to take part in the festival’s nationally renowned, juried Fine Artist Market which showcases sculpture, paintings, pottery, jewelry, photography and much more. There’s also a Kids Village featuring huge inflatables, arts & crafts, face painting and a 24-foot rock-climbing wall. Held at Piedmont Park, April 7-9, 2017, we recommend taking the MARTA to avoid parking hassles.

Play hooky at Six Flags Over Georgia!

Just because the kids are off from school doesn’t mean they should have all the fun. Six Flags Over Georgia is hosting their own Spring Break celebration April 1-9, and while that includes two weekends of fun, we recommend taking advantage of your unused vacation days and playing tourist in your hometown. By visiting mid-week, you’re likely to experience shorter lines and more thrills.
