What Makes England Furniture Different?
We've talked a lot about England's efficiency and their hundreds of upholstery leather and fabric options. But how about what's on the inside? How else is England different? To put it simply, they don't take shortcuts or skimp on features.
Better Materials & Better Build Quality
Whether it's a sofa, sectional, recliner, or accent chair, the England Furniture construction story always begins the same way. With high quality materials. Some furniture makers are more concerned with saving a few dollars on material costs than crafting the best living room furniture they can. But that's not how England does business.
Frames & Springs
England builds all of their furniture frames with sturdy 3/4″ and 7/8″ frame-grade plywood reinforced with hardwood. Meanwhile, many competitors use inferior 1/2″ or 5/8″ plywood reinforced only by flimsy particle board. This makes a huge difference in the overall durability of their furniture. The springs are equally important because they are what support the user’s weight. England exclusively uses narrow loop springs, which are far sturdier than the wide loop springs used by other companies. Also, England arranges their springs more densely within the frame while competitors use fewer springs to save on cost. In fact, the strength of these springs is exactly why England’s robust frames are needed. Each individual spring exerts a whopping 40 lbs of force on the frame! Lastly, many companies will forego springs in the seat-back entirely – but not England Furniture.
Fiber, Foam & Fill
England doesn’t compromise when it comes to their foam, fiber or fill either. That’s why all England Furniture cushions carry a 10-year warranty while many competitors only offer a single year warranty!
First, England covers surfaces like chair or sofa arms in a sheeted fiber wrap before topping it with a layer of foam. But many competitors use the fiber wrap only, which gradually becomes matted over time. Unfortunately, this sometimes goes for things like pillow-top cushions as well. This fiber wrap is comfortable at first, but can’t provide lasting comfort on its own. As a result, England makes both their pillow-top and regular seat cushions with dense foam cores wrapped in high grade polyester fiber.
Build Quality
Additionally, other manufacturers may cut corners with the construction itself. To minimize human error, England’s factory precision cuts each and every frame with computerized routers. This includes notched and interlocked joints for greater frame strength and hardwood reinforcements on all stress points. As opposed to England’s interlocking joints, some other brands may only use staples to secure certain joints!
Even the cushions are built intelligently with durability in mind. Every England Furniture zipper is what is called a “self-healing zipper”. If a zipper is somehow pulled apart, you can zip past the gap and reseal it without any hassle. On top of that, all fabric upholstered cushions are reversible and feature cushion vents. Both of these features ensure the life and comfort of their cushions for years to come!
