For starters, we get loads of questions about our custom order process. “I’ve never bought custom furniture before. Exactly how does everything work?” “Which furniture brands can I customize?” “Do I need to book an appointment to visit the Design Center?” “How many custom fabric and leather upholstery options do you have?” “Which Woodstock Furniture & Mattress Outlet locations have a Design Center?” Today, we’ll be answering all of these questions and comparing our different custom furniture brands.
What Brands Do You Have, and What Are My Custom Furniture Options?
When you walk into our Woodstock/Acworth, Dallas/Hiram or Rome furniture stores, you’ll find a whole section of the showroom dedicated to custom furniture from over a dozen different furniture manufacturers. Welcome to the Design Center!
Between our different custom furniture makers, we can proudly say that we have a staggering 7,000+ different fabrics, performance fabrics and leather upholstery options to choose from! In addition to tons of swatches and samples, we also have several large touchscreens that allow you to digitally drape fabrics onto chair, loveseat, and sofa frames from multiple brands.
The custom order process itself varies a bit from company to company. All of our upholstery brands allow the customization of fabrics and pillows, but some also allow you to pick your frame, trim, cushions and more. However, the Design Center isn’t just for upholstered seating. In fact, we do have a furniture maker, Vanguard Furniture, that makes custom casegoods like bedroom sets, dining sets, and home office furniture too!
Unfortunately, each of our vendors are currently experiencing delays to one degree or another, but we’ll discuss that at greater length below. But first, we’ll get into the facts around each of our customizable furniture brands. Let’s get to it!
Best Home Furnishings
Best Home Furnishings (previously known as Best Chair) is an established maker of affordable recliners, accent chairs, sofas and more. When it comes to custom upholstery, they have a sizable selection of 750+ options, including leather and performance fabrics from Revolution Fabrics, Opti Clean and Infinesse.
Bradington-Young
As a division of Hooker Furniture, Bradington-Young primarily specializes in high quality, upholstered seating. They carry over 175 different leather options of various grades and colors, as well as 200+ performance fabrics. Bradington-Young’s custom order program even allows customers to adjust finer details including different wood finishes, decorative nails, etc.
Capris Furniture
With 150 different frame styles and over 700 upholstery fabrics, there are 100,000+ possible Capris Furniture chairs, loveseats, sectionals, sofas and ottomans to create! Additionally, Capris has one of the largest selections of performance fabrics with over 400 different options. This includes fabrics from respected brands like Crypton and Sunbrella.
Craftmaster Furniture
The folks at Craftmaster have been in the upholstery game a long time. That’s why it’s no surprise that they have nearly 1,200 fabrics for their various upholstered pieces! This includes fabrics from Craftmaster’s own Paula Deen Home Collection, and nearly 150 performance fabrics from Revolution and Family Life. With Craftmaster, customers also have control of tons of other design features including different arms and seat backs, seams and welts, leg style, and wood finish.
Decor-Rest Furniture
Given that Decor-Rest is Canada’s largest maker of fabric and leather upholstery, they have quite a selection of options. However, don’t forget the Italian heritage of Decor-Rest’s founders, who take great pride in their leather offerings. They boast 750+ different fabrics and leathers, including 83 varieties of quality leather and performance fabrics like their own amazing Majestic Fabric. Lastly, keep in mind that Decor-Rest also lets customers choose their own wood and metal finishes.
England Furniture
England Furniture has long been known for their custom upholstery and quick delivery. While their turnaround time isn’t as quick as it was pre-COVID, they still have one of the quicker fulfillment timeframes in the industry. As a bonus, with England Furniture, we benefit from being right next door to their factories in East Tennessee. They have almost 550 fabrics and leathers, including 80+ performance fabrics from Revolution and LiveSmart.
Flexsteel
Flexsteel is another industry leader within the upholstered seating category. Especially when it comes to the sheer number of features and custom options available. They have 100 upholstered furniture frames to choose from ranging from traditional to transitional to contemporary styles, each constructed with Flexsteel’s durable, patented Blue Steel Spring.
They also have a whopping 765 upholstery options – including semi-aniline leather, pigmented leather, and performance fabrics from InsideOut, LiveSmart, Revolution, Sunbrella, Sustain and Kashmira. This really empowers consumers to make their new living room furniture their own.
Kincaid Furniture
As we mentioned previously on the blog, we love Kincaid Furniture. Part of the reason is Kincaid’s attention to detail and dedication to quality, old-school craftsmanship. We also love that customers can choose frames with different sofa lengths and widths. Other reasons are their typically faster-than-industry lead times, and the over 600 custom order fabrics they offer our customers – including quality performance fabrics by Kinguard, Inside Out and Sunbrella.
Palliser
Palliser is a Canadian manufacturer that’s been making quality living and bedroom furniture for over 75 years. As such, they are one of the few brands on this list to offer custom options for beds and headboards too. What do we love most about Palliser here at WFMO’s Design Center? All of their different leathers – including pigmented, semi-aniline and aniline options! Additionally, every single one of Palliser’s 100+ leather options are high quality top grain leather. Lastly, they also offer several hundred standard fabrics, performance fabrics by LiveSmart, and numerous polyurethane vegan leather choices.
Sam Moore
Much like sister company Bradington-Young, Sam Moore is a division of Hooker Furniture. Where Bradington-Young specializes mostly in leather seating, Sam Moore is more dedicated to transitional and on-trend custom fabric. Speaking of custom fabrics, Sam Moore has over 600 of them! This includes a wide variety of performance fabrics from 8 different brands – Crypton, Fortress, LiveSmart, NeverFear, Revolution, Sunbrella, Sustain, and Wipeout.
UltraComfort
Unlike the other brands on this list, UltraComfort is extremely specialized. In fact, they offer just one product – power reclining lift chairs. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t get in on the custom upholstery action too! Given the potential use of lift chairs as a piece of medical equipment, many regular fabrics don’t meet the durability requirements for extended daily use. As a result, UltraComfort doesn’t offer quite as many upholstery options. However, their 34 fabrics do include some awesome breathable, durable, and easy-to-clean options like their Brisa polyurethane fabric, which is textured to look and feel like leather.
Universal Furniture
As a long-time, reputable manufacturer of both upholstery and casegoods, Universal Furniture is actually quite new to custom order. Since they bought their own upholstery factory in North Carolina in 2019, Universal is now able to offer custom order upholstered seating with over 400 different fabric and leather options. Their list of fabrics includes industry leading performance fabrics from Crypton, Revolution and LiveSmart.
Vanguard Furniture
Of all our brands, none offer quite the same level of customization as Vanguard Furniture. With a whopping 1,500+ fabrics and leathers, they also offer 684 performance fabrics from Crypton, Inside Out and Sunbrella. Through Vanguard’s multiple custom order programs, customers can put together their own a la carte sectional from different modular pieces, adjust leg styles, arm styles, seat depth, or seat back height.
However, Vanguard’s customization doesn’t stop with just upholstery. They also offer custom built and finished casegoods for your bedroom, dining room, living room, or home office. Choose your leg style, molding, or trim, and add literally any custom paint color with a paint swatch from a major commercial paint brand like Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore. They’ll even do custom distressing or highlight striping by hand!
West Coast Collection
Last but not least, let us reintroduce our own West Coast Collection. You definitely won’t find these incredibly comfortable sectionals, sofas, chairs or loveseats anywhere else in town. On top of that, our West Coast Collection is now customizable with over 600 upholstery options, including leather and Revolution Performance Fabric.

All this being said, we do need to put out an important disclaimer. Given current stresses in the supply chain. each of the brands above are experiencing delays – some more significant than others. This means that right now the most we can do is provide you with our vendors’ best delivery estimate.
Unfortunately, these timetables are subject to change given the pandemic-related supply issues affecting our industry.
