Who Are The Best Rug Stores in Atlanta / North Georgia? (Reviews/Ratings)

With thousands of folks from across Metro Atlanta coming through our doors every month, we get lots of customer questions. In fact, we’ve pretty much heard them all. Not every customer is super familiar with the area, so these questions often range from local restaurant recommendations to other places in town to shop. This sometimes includes questions about other furniture, mattress, or rug stores in Atlanta and across North Georgia — i.e. our competitors.

Here at Woodstock Furniture & Mattress Outlet, we’ve made it our mission to provide shoppers with honest answers. Even when they ask us tough questions — like where else they could buy area rugs in Atlanta or North Georgia. As rug experts ourselves, our goal is to educate and empower each customer to make the buying decision that’s best for them.

Best Rug Stores in Atlanta and North Georgia

So if you’re in the market for a new (or perhaps vintage) area rug, we’re listing some other well-established rug stores in Atlanta and North Georgia. Starting alphabetically…

Ballard Designs

Ballard Designs logo

Ballard Designs has been around since 1983, but things have changed a lot since then. Based here in Atlanta, Ballard Designs has been a subsidiary of HSN (Home Shopping Network) since 2005, which is itself a part of QVC. Over the years, they went from selling furniture, rugs and décor via mail-order catalogs, to fax and telephone orders, to eventually taking orders online. In fact, Ballard’s first retail location didn’t open until 2007. These days, they have 16 retail stores and outlets across the South, Midwest and East Coast. This includes a fairly new showroom on Atlanta’s Westside and an outlet store north of town in Roswell. As for their rug selection, they have a variety of rugs in different shapes, sizes and styles, including both machine made and hand-knotted rugs.

Havertys

Havertys Furniture logo

Havertys is a reputable national chain that sells private label products at a mid-to-high price point. Founded right here in Atlanta way back in 1885, Havertys has been selling furniture for about as long as anyone. That being said, many people don’t know that they sell area rugs too. Their rug options include a variety of machine made rugs, but most tend to be transitional or contemporary in style. So if you’re looking for something handmade or traditional, Havertys may not be the best fit. However, with a dozen locations across North Georgia, there’s likely a convenient location within a stone’s throw of your home.

Macy’s

Macy's department store logo

This store needs no real introduction. However, when most people think of Macy’s, they probably picture clothes, shoes, or even cosmetics. But your local Macy’s likely has a huge selection of rugs as well. This includes both machine and hand-knotted rugs, as well as any style ranging from traditional to abstract contemporary. There are loads of brands to choose from as well, including Loloi, Karastan, KM Home, Dalyn, Bayshore Home, Martha Stewart Collection, and many more.

Mall of Georgia Rugs / North Point Rugs

Magid Carpets operates two area rug stores around Atlanta — Mall of Georgia Rugs in Buford and North Point Rugs in Alpharetta. This family owned and operated business has been selling rugs to the public since 2000. With thousands of rugs in stock between their two stores, they claim to offer the best value in North Georgia. Unlike others on this list, Mall of Georgia and North Point Rugs have several rug collections that they manufacture themselves. Additionally, they sell rugs from Nourison, Oriental Weavers, Loloi and more.

Outrageous Interiors

With 4 showrooms across North Atlanta, Outrageous Interiors is a truly local chain that offers an upscale, designer experience. Most of the other stores on this list of best rug stores in Atlanta focus on area rugs or furniture, but Outrageous Interiors markets themselves first and foremost as interior design experts and decorators. As such, they offer complementary in-store design services, lots of lighting and décor, and a broad selection of quality area rugs. Their curated selection of handmade and machine made rugs includes beautiful pieces from brands like Dalyn and Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines.

The Dump

As a leading national furniture and décor outlet, The Dump has been selling designer brand furniture at a discount since 1985. With acres of floor space at each of their 9 locations, they carry a variety of closeouts, scratch-and-dents, and one-off pieces. As a result, their large selection of rugs is frequently changing. Given their branding as a designer outlet, most of the rugs you’ll find at The Dump are contemporary or transitional. Their Atlanta showroom is in Lindbergh between GA-400 and Piedmont Rd.
