Here at Woodstock Furniture & Mattress Outlet, we’re committed to answering your questions. Even when they have nothing to do with furniture! Honestly, one of our most frequently asked questions is “What do y’all got to eat around here?” That’s why today we are launching a new series, called Local Flavor. Keep scrolling to see what we think are some of the best restaurants around Woodstock!
Our Favorite Local Restaurants in Woodstock
As many of y’all know, our flagship store is nestled right between Woodstock and Acworth on Hwy 92. Additionally, our Customer Pickup & Distribution Center is only a few miles down the road. The truth is that both Woodstock and Acworth are chock full of great places to eat, but today’s post is going to focus only on Woodstock, with a follow-up very soon on our favorite places to eat in Acworth.
But don’t worry, if you’re a long-time customer of one of our other North Georgia furniture and mattress stores, we’re just scratching the surface. Stay tuned for the scoop on our favorite places to eat in each of these neighborhoods very soon!
Unfortunately, as much as we try to streamline things, buying furniture isn’t always a quick process. And sometimes, our customers get hungry. Especially if they’ve been shopping for a while. For that matter, many folks drive a long way to shop with us and are unfamiliar with the immediate area around the store. Regardless of why they’re asking, we are duty-bound to answer. Here are a few of our answers of where to go for good food in Woodstock (in alphabetical order)…
Alpine Bakery
Whether you're celebrating a new sofa or simply satisfying a sweet tooth, Alpine Bakery in Woodstock is the kind of place that turns a regular day into a special occasion. While the word “bakery” might have you thinking it's all about desserts (and yes, the cheesecakes, layer cakes, and cannoli are legendary), Alpine Bakery is also a full-service restaurant offering hearty Italian favorites like lasagna, chicken parm, and brick oven pizzas.
The vibe is warm and welcoming, and the portions? Let’s just say you won’t leave hungry. Their dessert case alone is worth the trip – towering slices of chocolate cake, mile-high cheesecakes, and enough treats to tempt even the most disciplined shopper. Whether you’re dining in or just swinging by to grab something sweet for later, Alpine Bakery & Pizzeria is a local treasure that’s totally worth your cheat-day calorie budget. Are you closer to the GA-400 corridor? Try their other location on Crabapple Road in Alpharetta.
Burger Inn
Burger Inn is a lovable, no-frills hole-in-the-wall burger joint that’s actually been in Woodstock longer than we have! Known just as much for their breakfasts as their burgers, they make an amazing southern breakfast that might just put your grandma’s to shame (but please let her down easy, okay?) Their menu includes everything from burgers and dogs, to BLTs and steak sandwiches, to pies and shakes, to homemade biscuits and cinnamon rolls. Burger Inn is tasty, inexpensive, and has portions that certainly won’t leave you hungry.
However, there are two things you need to remember. First, while they do have a drive through, everything is made to order. Second, Burger Inn is only open for breakfast and lunch, so make sure you go early. If you’ve been to Burger Inn before and had a good experience, head to the Burger Inn Facebook page and give them a like. If not, pay them a visit – and don’t forget to take your appetite with you!
Canyon’s Fresh Grill
Canyon’s is a craft burger restaurant and grill located along the main drag in downtown Woodstock, now with a second location at Riverstone Parkway in Canton. Craving a quality, all-angus steakburger and a shake in a fun, family-friendly, fast-casual environment? How about catching a Braves game with friends on a relaxing patio with a local craft beer or margarita in hand? Either way, Canyon’s just might be your kind of place.
The thing we love about Canyon’s is all of their burger options. Choose from their delicious menu of specialty steakburgers, or customize your own. If you’re not all about the beef, they’ve got chicken sandwiches, turkey burgers, black bean burgers, chicken tenders, salads, and more! Tired of regular fries? Well, it’s a good thing Canyon’s also has sweet potato fries, tots and onion rings. Be sure to check out their website (and menu) to see everything for yourself!
Century House Tavern
Located inside a beautifully restored historic home just off Main Street in Woodstock, Century House Tavern combines local flavor, seasonal ingredients, and Southern hospitality into one cozy and casually refined experience. It’s one of those places where the atmosphere is just as inviting as the menu – and trust us, the menu’s worth writing home about.
Century House serves up a menu of chef-driven dishes like shrimp and grits, braised short rib sandwiches, tender steaks, blackened pan-seared salmon, and ever-changing small plates that make the most of whatever is in season. It’s a perfect lunch or dinner stop if you’re already shopping downtown (or at our nearby Woodstock/Acworth location, for that matter), and it’s a great spot for those who love farm-to-table fare in a setting that feels both familiar and fancy. Keep in mind that Century House is open lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday, from 10am to 3pm on Sundays, but is closed on Mondays.
Cylantro’s Venezuelan Cuisine
Cylantro’s is another one of our favorite casual lunch spots here at Woodstock Furniture & Mattress Outlet. This family-owned business was founded in 2015 with the goal of sharing their Venezuelan heritage and culture through food – and boy is it good. Have you ever tried Venezuelan food? If not, you simply must give Cylantro’s a try! If you like Mexican, Cuban or other Latin American and Caribbean cuisine, we think you’ll like it.
While Cylantro’s has delicious dishes you’ll recognize such as empanadas, tacos and fajitas, their real claim to fame is their arepas. So what exactly is an arepa? Think of a Latin American flatbread made of cornmeal and grilled to perfection, that is then stuffed with “fresh and delicious goodness” (their exact words). They even have twenty different varieties to choose from! Try them yourself at one of Cylantro’s three locations in Woodstock, Kennesaw, and Roswell, open Monday through Saturday.
Hacienda Vieja Mexican Restaurant
In English, “Hacienda Vieja” translates to “old estate” or “old homestead”. So the food and atmosphere at Hacienda Vieja are meant to feel welcoming, like a sort of homecoming. For over a decade, Hacienda Vieja has done just that by offering some of Woodstock’s most tasty Mexican food in a trendy yet family-friendly environment, complete with patio seating.
When we asked the team members at our Woodstock/Acworth location for restaurant recommendations, Hacienda Vieja just kept coming up. Maybe it’s the margaritas and mouth-watering fajitas. Maybe it’s the massive menu loaded with options. Or maybe it’s the fresh guacamole they make right at your table. Either way, our team loves this pick, and thinks you will too.
Izumi Asian Bistro
Can’t decide whether you want Japanese, Chinese, Pho or Thai for dinner? Just go to Izumi Asian Bistro in Woodstock, because they have it all! Complete with a sushi bar (and a massive sushi menu), Izumi also has hibachi and wok dishes, Thai curry, and pretty much all of your favorite Asian dishes. From California rolls and eel rolls, to Tom Yum soup, to General Tso’s chicken, we’ve yet to have anything here that wasn’t excellent.
Izumi is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, but is open for dinner only on Sunday. If you’re closer to Cumming or Buford (or really anywhere off of GA-400), check out their other location in Cumming.
J.D.’s Bar-B-Que
Looking for a great local barbecue joint within a few minutes’ drive of our Woodstock/Acworth furniture and mattress store? Look no further than J.D.'s Bar-B-Que! On top of their phenomenal sliced brisket, chopped pork, chopped chicken and baby back ribs, they’ve also got loaded spuds and skillets that are to die for. Oh and let’s not forget their appetizers – fried pickles, pimento cheese, hush puppies and more!
With one location in Woodstock, another in Acworth, and a third just up Bells Ferry Rd in Canton, J.D.’s has several restaurants within a stone’s throw of Woodstock Furniture & Mattress Outlet. So if you’re in the neighborhood, you might as well check them out! Please keep in mind that their lakeside Canton location, J.D.’s on the Lake, is only open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and has its own unique menu.
Bonus Fun Fact: You may recognize J.D.’s on the Lake from the critically acclaimed Netflix series Ozark, starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, where it portrayed the fictional Blue Cat Lodge.
Prime 120
If you’re looking for a place to indulge yourself after a long day of mattress testing or sectional scouting, Prime 120 is our go-to for elevated dining in downtown Woodstock. This modern steakhouse is known for its premium cuts of beef, fresh seafood, and elegant cocktails – all served in a sleek, upscale setting with warm wood finishes and a crackling outdoor fireplace.
Their steaks are cooked to perfection in Mugnaini wood-fired ovens, and the menu also features everything from fresh oysters and truffle fries to decadent desserts. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want to savor an expertly grilled filet, Prime 120 is one of the finest dining experiences Woodstock has to offer. Prime 120 accepts reservations and is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday, as well as Saturday and Sunday brunch.
Salt Factory Pub
If exposed brick and Edison bulbs are your vibe, you’ll feel right at home at Salt Factory Pub. All three locations of this upscale gastropub (downtown Woodstock, downtown Alpharetta, and downtown Roswell) have a cozy atmosphere and a huge beer, whiskey, and wine list reminiscent of the quaint local pubs scattered across the British Isles. As a result, Salt Factory is truly the perfect blend of comfy and sophisticated.
But how is the food? In short, it’s fantastic! Regardless of whether your tastes are typical or gourmet, you’ll absolutely be able to find something to your liking. The Salt Factory menu has standard fare like burgers and pizza, but also fresh seafood, pasta, entrée salads and other eclectic creations inspired by everything from British pub food, to southern cooking, to Italian, Korean and Cajun cuisines. So whether you’re planning a business lunch or your next date night, Salt Factory is certainly a choice that will impress.
Taste of Italy
When we polled the team members at our Woodstock/Acworth store about their favorite nearby restaurants, Taste of Italy was a wildly popular answer. There have been countless times over the years where our own break room could barely contain the aroma of delicious Taste of Italy pizzas. To say that we’re fans would be an understatement.
Regardless of whether you prefer New York Style, Sicilian, or their signature “Bruschetta Style”, Taste of Italy has some of the best pizza and pasta in town. But don’t sleep on their stromboli, calzones or Italian subs though! Gino, the owner and operator of Taste of Italy, is a first generation Italian American and his own authenticity is clearly evident in the quality of his food. They even make their own sauces from scratch, so you know it’s good! Check their menu out online and or pay them a visit in person right off of Hwy 92 in Woodstock.
